Become active in ASM
Become more involved in the microbiology community at UF by being an active member of ASM! Active members experience benefits such as receiving a graduation chord, preference for field trips, an annual banquet, and the opportunity to run for any ASM officer positions!
Any UF students, whether attending in-person or virtually, are able to join ASM & achieve active member status by completing the following steps:
1) Attend 3 out of the 4 general body meetings (virtually or in-person)
2) Receive two points in all of the following categories

Students interesting in joining ASM can submit the general interest form located here. Make sure to join our ListServ and Teams to receive the most updated information from ASM!
Attending GBMs
Earn attendance points by being at 3 out of our 4 month general body meetings (GBMs).
Our general body meetings consist of a brief presentation on club updates followed by an educational and fun microbiology activity. GBMs will be every month on Monday at 6:30 pm in the Microbiology Seminar Room & virtually via Teams. Check out our calendar tab to find out information about our next GBM!
Social
Become a part of the microbiology community by attending social events.
Attending the social events that we offer is a fun way to learn more about people in the microbiology community at UF while also networking with your peers! We offer social events regularly, such as our weekly study socials. Check out our events and calendar pages for more information!
Outreach
Help us educate the local community about microbiology by volunteering at our outreach events.
We are active in our local communities to promote microbiology education and research. This includes participation at local science fairs, school events, and other community activities. Check out our events tab for upcoming outreach event information!
Fundraising
Support ASM and our mission by assisting in fundraising events or buying from our store!
ASM is committed to offering resources and extra educational opportunities for our students such as through symposiums and field trips. Support our mission by checking out the giant microbes plushies and merchandise available in our store!
